The Art of Attraction: Building Customer Loyalty in Kenya's Digital Age

Marketing, the art of seduction, Selling, the art of seduction

Check this out.

Selling is a game, an art of seduction. No one wants an I-want-you-right-now-right-here-and-I-will-take-you-however-which-way-what-way-I-want type of lover. My feelings and what I want matters too. To some extent, most would call that rape. Naah, lemme rephrase that, that is completely rape! And sugar, trust me, no one wants to be raped.

Take her out on a date, wine her a little, dine her a little. Hear her out. Make her laugh. Show her that you care - not just cause there is something in it for you, simply cause you just do. About her wants and needs. About her passions, her ambitions and goals. That you overlook her insecurities. That you truly understand her drives in the world. That you care about what she cares about even when it makes no sense to you.

But this type of game can be a little bit tricky. For her to let you in, you have to be the first to open up. To be vulnerable. People tend to feel a lot better about themselves and the situations they are in when they know they are not in it alone. That they are not the only ones who are “imperfect”. Show her that you are human. Broken as she is, hopeful as she is, betrayed as she has been, gone through some not so nice experiences as she has. My G, she will open up, the flood gates let loose. She will even tell you about her imaginary best friend she had back in class three cause she didn't have friends. Gracie she calls her, they did everything together. She kept Gracie up until her teenage years. She has never told anyone else about Gracie, she always felt like they would all judge her. You are the first. The first one she ever trusted to let her demons show. Her insecurities on display. She trusts you.

That’s a connection build just not on looks, but something deeper, spiritual even. That type of connection, trust me, it doesn’t fade, never truly does. People always remember how you made them feel, never really what you did for them.

You wanna know the biggest feels of them all, feeling understood. Don’t lie, we all want that. We crave it.

Once you’ve opened that can of worms, y’all now share in your passions, your wants, your secret desires, your too-on-the-top ambitions. Y’all work on it together. You learn from her and she learns from you. You develop a relationship that’s deeper and more connected. Your values and beliefs are intertwined. You fight sometimes, disagree other times, don’t see eye to eye on some matters on rare occasions but you’ll always come back together at the end of it. Dare anyone try to mess with you! They’ll get it from her! There, right there, is the epitome of family dynamics! I can call my sister a bitch, but woe to you if you try to, manze I’ll skin you alive, even when I hate her at that specific moment in time. Even when I haven’t spoken to her in months!

There, right there, you have a partner for life. A best friend, your soul mate. Your family!

It’s not just about selling, it’s about forging a relationship for life. A relationship that knows no bounds. You cry when they cry, you laugh when they laugh. The type that you know each other well enough that you can anticipate their needs without them saying it. That’s the truest love if you ask me. To know someone that intimately. To celebrate their wins, mourn their failures. To genuinely want to see them happy cause that makes you happy.

Here's the thing though, you can only get such if you are the truest version of yourself. Your authentic self from the get go. That's how you form such strong bonds.

And that, my darlings, is the same case for all forms of marketing in this day and age. The age of social media, the age of AI. The age where the digital and social media space are serving content that works for the viewer not serving the viewer to the content. Their algorithms are meant to serve the viewer not you as the creator or brand necessarily. It’s not that they are working against you, rather, they are working for the viewer. Get to know your target market that intimately. Their wants and needs, their pain points, their loves and hates, their value systems and their aspirations. Know them and serve it to them. That’s the type of value we are talking about!

Woo them first, and you’ll have their loyalty for life.

Honey, do that, and for sure you’ll be on your way to financial success.

See, the art of seduction!
